The project involves the construction and marketing of a high-tech fully integrated Centre for Creative Excellence. This will include studio facilities able to generate a wide range of revenue streams. It will have the capacity to compete for international full-length feature films and so substantially expand the UK share of the internationally mobile film market.

It is intended that the 200-acre site will also hold a business park, educational campus linked to a university in the region, two hotels, parklands and some housing development.

There are only two similar film and media projects in the world, and the proposals at the Seaham site, which skirts the link road at Dawdon, would be a UK first.
