This project consisted of the acquisition of a rundown property on a modest footprint, within a well regarded residential street of mostly considerably larger family houses. To ease the planning process, we decided to demolish and reconstruct the above ground structure to match the original. The gross internal area was doubled by the provision of a cutting edge basement to the entire plot, including the rear garden, of a type only usually seen in the commercial sector. A new irrigated lawned garden was laid over the new construction to match the original provision. Striking open plan accommodation of over 4000 sq. ft resulted, with almost invisible impact on the sensitive conservation area.
